Magdalena Arrests and County Bookings
Magdalena is a Village, not a city. It sits in Socorro County. The only other incorporated municipality there is Socorro itself. The 2020 Census counted 806 residents. Law enforcement comes from the Magdalena Marshal's Office, not a city police department. That distinction matters when you trace a record. The Marshal's Office holds incident and arrest reports. Anyone accepted into county custody, though, gets booked through the Socorro County Detention Center. Two offices can hold pieces of the same event.
For current custody questions, start with the county's Detention Center page and its official JailTracker roster link. The county calls the source an inmate roster. A CAPTCHA is required to open it. No photo is promised for every result, and the county does not list every search field or say how long a released booking stays in public view. Mugshots are taken at booking. That does not guarantee each roster result shows one. A missing person can mean release, transfer, a differently entered name, a viewing limit, or a restricted record.
Rural counties make this split matter even more. A report names the local agency. A roster entry names the county custody system, if the person was accepted there. State police, the sheriff, or another agency can also make an arrest in the area. Read the agency label instead of assuming the Marshal's Office started every case.
Where Magdalena Busted Mugshots Appear
Magdalena runs no village arrest log. There is no daily booking bulletin and no mugshot page of its own. The official county roster is the strongest first stop for anyone held in county detention right now. It has to be opened live. The county's photo policy is not published. So no one can say in advance which fields or images a result will show. If the live view comes up empty, go back to the Marshal's Office for the report. The county custodian may hold booking material.
| Channel | Photo status | Official? | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Socorro County JailTracker roster | Not promised on the county page | Yes | Check present county custody after passing the CAPTCHA. |
| Magdalena Marshal's Office | No public online photo page found | Yes | Request an originating report or record from the local agency. |
| Socorro County records custodian | Request-specific | Yes | Ask which office holds a booking sheet or photograph. |
| Busted Newspaper Socorro tag | May display images | No | Use only as an unofficial lead, then confirm agency and custody. |
| RecentlyBooked Socorro County | May display images | No | Its county window is a publisher claim, not a county roster rule. |
| New Mexico Arrests, Socorro | May display images | No | Agency and city labels require official verification. |
Unofficial county-level sites sometimes surface Socorro County material. These include Mugshots.zone and Arre.st, often with agency labels attached. They cannot tell you current custody. They cannot tell you a court result or how long the county keeps records. No verified Magdalena news outlet runs a mugshot gallery. Keep the three apart. A newspaper story, a third-party record, and an official booking record each answer a different question.
Note: A third-party page can remain searchable after a jail release, so the official roster and court record remain the better checks for current status.
Busted in Magdalena Booking Lookup
Follow the booking path in order. It keeps a current-custody question separate from a request for the local arrest record. The county maintains the official roster. The Marshal's Office keeps its own local files. For the full county-wide picture of rosters, booking feeds, and record options, see the Socorro County record lookup.
- Open the county Detention Center page and select the official JailTracker inmate roster. Complete the CAPTCHA if the service asks for it.
- Search the live interface using the fields it actually makes available. Record the spelling and the time of the check, rather than relying on a search-engine result.
- If a result appears, read each displayed agency, booking date, custody, bond, charge, and photo field exactly as shown. Do not turn an intake charge into a court outcome.
- If there is no result, contact the detention center for a custody question or make a precise records request to the office that likely holds the document.
- For the later case result, use New Mexico Case Lookup by name or case number. A missing public case can reflect timing, another court, or restricted access.
Socorro County has no verified official booking feed. Not same-day, not 24-to-48-hour, not multi-day or weekly. The live roster promises no set hour for a new intake to appear. Transport, intake processing, identity checks, and medical clearance can all shift timing. So can release, court status, and site maintenance. RecentlyBooked claims its county page refreshes several times a day with a thirty-day view. Other publishers offer historical or monthly pages. Those are publisher claims, not official Magdalena or Socorro County timing.
Magdalena Marshal Records Requests
To request a Marshal's Office report, use the village's public-records request form. It asks for a name, phone number, address, and email. You also state whether you want copies or email delivery, plus a specific description. A focused request helps staff find the right item fast. Include the person's full name and an approximate date. Add an incident or booking number if you have one, the agency, and the exact item wanted, such as an incident report, arrest report, or photograph held by that office. One caution: a request to the Marshal's Office does not reach the county detention custodian on its own.
For office details, the official Magdalena Marshal's Office page is the reference source.

Village records name Deborah Lawless as both Court Clerk and Police Data Entry Clerk. The deputy-marshal post sits vacant. That gap does not change how you file. Reports originating with the Marshal go through the village. Booking material for anyone accepted at the county jail must come from the county detention custodian. On the county side, the public-records custodian is Andrew Lotrich. He is reachable at 575-835-0589, office at 198 Neel Avenue in Socorro. If either office lacks the record you want, just ask it to point you to the proper custodian.
Note: Originals do not leave the village office, and a precise request is more likely to identify the correct agency record quickly.
Magdalena Busted Record Fees
The village publishes its own fee schedule for public records. Delivery choices carry different costs. Email is listed as free. Paper, fax, mail, and media each have a stated charge, and those figures apply only to the village route rather than to anything Socorro County itself holds. Before ordering a large batch of material, confirm which office actually holds the record and ask for a written fee estimate up front.
| Village request item | Listed charge |
|---|---|
| Copy page, up to 11 by 17 inches | $0.50 |
| Faxed page | $1.00 |
| Mail delivery | Actual postage |
| Email delivery | No charge |
| CD or DVD | $5.00 |
| Audio CD or DVD | $7.50, or $5.00 with requester-provided media |
Office hours run 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. When a request is overbroad or burdensome, the village commits to sending written notice by the third day. Not every photograph can be released, however. Juvenile matters, sealed or expunged cases, confidential details, and records the office does not hold all follow different access rules. If a custodian offers a redacted or alternate version, that is the time to ask for it.
Magdalena Historical Marshal Blotter
Curious how local arrest news once read? The Mountain Mail's Magdalena Marshal's Blotter and its related sheriff posts open that window. The material spans 2009 and 2010, giving narrative reports of arrests and warrants tied to local law-enforcement offices. A newspaper blotter once printed marshal activity, in other words. It says nothing about today's schedule, any current village arrest list, or present-day photo practices.
An old newspaper story is no substitute for the official record path. A narrative may mention a warrant or arrest. The county roster, though, tracks current custody, and a records request gets the actual document. Read dates with care. An incident date, arrest date, booking date, publication date, and court filing date can all differ. For broader coverage of county sources and their limits, see Socorro County Arrest News.
Magdalena Booking Court Timing
Someone booked into county custody on new charges should, per the Detention Center, get an initial appearance within four days at Socorro County Magistrate Court. That timing covers new cases only. District warrants and probation violations move on their own track. Treat the four-day figure loosely. Do not use it to guess when a photo surfaces or when a name leaves the roster.
Once the first appearance happens, the court file is the better source for what a case becomes. A docket may later show an amended charge, dismissal, plea, acquittal, conviction, diversion, or probation. The roster and the docket serve different jobs. Keep the booking date, arresting agency, and case number tied to the right person, especially with a common name.
Note: Court records may not appear immediately, and a restricted or newly filed matter may not be visible in the public search.
